The Tao Chan Wing Chun Organization is the only Wing Chun Organization in the world that has reunited the teachings of the Ip Man Wing Chun in the direct line of the Wing Chun grandmasters with Chan / Zen Buddhism dating back to the South Shaolin Monastery under leadership of a Buddhist Chan monk.
The mission of the Tao Chan Wing Chun Organization
The Tao Chan Wing Chun Organization has its roots in 1996, when Grandmaster Venerable Chi Sim went to Hong Kong after several years of training with a German Wing Tsun organization and talks with Master Lok Yius representative (second oldest student of Grandmaster Ip Man in Hong Kong), Sifu Wilhelm Blech to find the true Wing Chun. Since Venerable Chi Sim is not very tall, he found out very early that the Wing Tsun taught in that German organization in that organization did not work and students were cheated over years with marketing tricks to earn more money.
In Hong Kong, he met Grandmaster Ip Chun, the eldest son of Grandmaster Ip Man, who at that time was very upset about the kind of wrong Wing Chun in Germany. Grandmaster Ip Chun accepted Venerable Chi Sim as a direct student and taught him both in group and individual lessons in Wing Chun for over 20 years.
As longer Venerable Chi Sim became involved into Wing Chun and as more he learned about the stories of other Wing Chun organizations and their experiences, the more he understood the Chan Buddhist base of Wing Chun and realized, that the problem of all Wing Chun organizations - usually countless quarrels between the different Wing Chun styles - were grounded in the ego of the individual. At that time, already a Buddhist, Venerable Chi Sim began to research deeper into the context of Wing Chun and Buddhism, ultimately leading to his ordination as a monk novice in Thailand and finally ordination as a monk in the Chan lineage based on the Chan lineage of Shaolin and got the Buddhist name “Venerable Chi Sim” after the last abbot of the destroyed South Shaolin Monastery.
Venerable Chi Sim's main task as part of the Tao Chan Organization is to cleanse the Wing Chun of the ego's impurities, which the Wing Chun has experienced since leaving the South Shaolin Monastery, and to restore it to its former glory.
Over the years, he found out that at many Wing Tsun organizations are only care about self-praise, hiding techniques, greed, jealousy, egoism, violence often hidden behind wrong explained Chinese philosophies.
Therefore, in the name of all 8,000 monks standing behind the Tao Chan Wing Chun Organization, we can publicly declare that this model of Chan propagated by businessmen of a large Wing Tsun organization is in no way consistent with the mindset of Buddhist monks and warn all students not to believe every nonsense.
