Patriarch Venerable Master Prof. Dr. Park is the Buddhist master as well as Dharma father of Venerable Chi Sim since several years. He belongs same as Venerable Chi Sim to the Korean Taego Order, which has its roots in Chan Buddhism dating back to Shaolin Monastery. Our 1st Patriarch is Bodhidharma, the founder of Chan Buddhism, Kung Fu an Shaolin Monastery. Patriarch Park is the 80th lineage holder of the historic Buddha and the 54th lineage holder of Bodhidharma.
Venerable Park did teach as well at several universities in USA as a professor as well as worldwide in different countries and is a Buddhist monk for over 40 years and responsible of all monastics of the Taego Order outside of South Korea.
During the years he received several awards so from Pope Benedict IX as well as the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand for his contribution in Buddhism. He is also a Kung Fu as well as Taekwondo master.
The Taego order is with over 8000 monks and several thousand temples one of the largest Zen Buddhist orders in the world.
A special feature of Korean Buddhism and the Taego order is that celibacy is an option, so 50 % of the monks are celibate and 50 % have a family. Furthermore, a lot of Taego monks working in a regular job, especially in the western parish, which made it possible that Venerable Chi Sim still can work as a Tao Chan Wing Chun teacher.
